Professional Bio

Annette Mumbi is a CFA Charterholder and a seasoned investment professional with extensive experience fundraising and investing across Africa.

As the Founder and CEO of Fahamisha Investing, Annette has empowered hundreds of clients — from young professionals to seasoned executives — to take control of their financial futures.

Annette is a sought-after speaker on financial literacy, having presented at notable events like the 2024 Financial Planning Association Conference in the U.S, and Sanlam Investment East Africa Client Conference in Diani.

Before founding Fahamisha, Annette served as Associate Director at CrossBoundary Energy Access, where she negotiated and closed Africa’s largest project finance transaction for mini-grids, valued at $60 million. She was also instrumental in raising $25 million for rural electrification from Microsoft, Bank of America and ARCH Emerging Market Partners, by managing due diligence and financial close. In 2023, Annette was one of 10 women globally recognized by GreenBiz for her dedication to environmental justice.

Annette also worked at Sanlam Investments East Africa, where she was a member of the investment committee. As an Investment analyst, Annette analyzed and valued listed companies. She participated in portfolio management of an Africa Equity Fund by evaluating investment opportunities across East, West, North and Southern Africa, as well as engaging fundraising and fund reporting.

Annette holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of London and a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Engineering from JKUAT. She holds a range of certifications, including the Certificate in ESG Investing by CFA Institute and Certified Investments and Financial Analyst
(CIFA).
